Day One

We fled our "wonderful" city last night to avoid this:

Leaving about 4:00 in the afternoon.  Our first stop was the usual Lake Forest Oasis...but this time it was dinner, not breakfast.

The 295 tollway has nearly doubled their toll rates - from $.80 to $1.50 each time!!! I am wondering why I have to pay to travel on an interstate by-pass that I can travel for free in any other state?

Anywho...we finally stopped for the night in Lafayette, Indiana...late.  But my wonderful boys still had to make a stop to pick up bedtime treats.
Ollie and I waited in the car

Today we made the long trip from Northern Indiana to North Georgia.  Most of the drive was uneventful but we hit a snag in Elizabethtown, Kentucky when it took us about an hour to go 4 miles.  The cause of this was an accident involving two semis.

We are staying the night in Ringold, Georgia...where the temp outside is not much better than the temps we just left!  We enjoyed our traditional Cracker Barrel dinner...

Zack was proudly wearing his Gator garb all day...much to the dismay of our Alabama loving waitress.

And to totally confuse things...the Florida kid wore Packer clothes.
Tomorrow we arrive in Florida - which is supposed to be far from warm.  Oh well, it will just be nice to see my mom and dad and sister again.
