30some Years of Watching Football and I Cannot Believe I Saw This Happen

Yes I was watching the Patriots/Colts game last night.  

What on the surface of this great earth of ours would ever make someone believe that a play like this would ever work?

What is this alignment?  Let us take a moment and dissect all the oddities of this situation.  
  
1). This is supposedly a "fake punt" situation?  Do they really think the Patriots are going to believe they are punting? (more on that later)

2). That is not the center who is hiking the ball...it's a wide receiver.

3). That is not even a QB taking the snap - or the punter...it's a safety.  

Now let's just take in the overall look of this set-up shall we?  

Over on the one side you've got most of the Colts lined up in punt formation.  Why?  Even if the Patriots were idiotic enough to believe the Colts were going to punt...THERE IS NO BALL THERE!!!  And the acting center sure as heck isn't going to be snapping it diagonally to the punter. I don't know what the intelligence level of the players are but I'm pretty sure they are not stupid enough to believe a phantom football could be punted. 

But let's just ignore everyone over on that side...just pretend the players for both teams aren't there.

Let's look at the 5 players huddled around the ball and mathematically sort this out...the fake "QB/Punter" is virtually useless for anything other than trying to advance the ball once it's snapped. That leaves one player to block THREE defenders.   

This ball should have never been snapped...I make $0 a year playing football and I know that.  

Oy.  

Four Days of Disney: Day Three

Just today I ended up purchasing weekday passes for Zack and me so there will be many more than the 'four days of Disney' that we started with.  The weekday pass was initially very attractive for me - until I realized that it didn't include parking and I wasn't paying $20.00 for parking every time we went.  Well that all changed this month when Disney decided to raise the prices of their annual passes to a ridiculous amount but then decided to included parking with ALL passes, not just the annual.  And with Zack homeschooling we have the freedom to go on a weekday.  

Now onto Day Three - EPCOT


 Of all the parks, EPCOT holds the most memories for me.  We spent at least one Saturday a month there...sometimes two...and even sometimes all four. #crazythemeparkaddicts.  It was my preferred park because it had good traffic flow and a variety of choices of things to do.  Jon, when he would go, would spend most of the day in innoventions playing video games while the rest of us would keep ourselves busy in the park.  I know all things must change to keep up with the times but I am sad the memories attached to certain rides and movies are gone.  Norway is gone completely (stupid idea), Mexico has changed, SpaceShip Earth has changed, Test Track has changed, and the Canada movie has changed.  

Also...there is nothing inside of Innoventions anymore...sad!

Saturday during the Food and Wine Festival + gorgeous weather = outrageously busy.   So that is what we were up against.

And let's just zoom in on this little gem shall we?

This was a food and WINE festival after all...and why don't we also add beer, sake, margarita's, frozen drinks, and mixed drinks to the list.  

And the personalized shirts - crazy . 
They included:

- I'm the Drunk One
- Voted most likely to get drunk - Class of 2009

I could go on and on but I think my point is made

We got there about 3:30 and left about 9:30.  In between we (C.J. and I) sampled the following foods:

1). Cheese Bread from Brazil

2). Shrimp on the Barbie from Australia

My favorite but, oh my, it had a spicy aftertaste 

and

3). Apple Strudel from Germany

C.J. also had a beef skewer from Patagonia but I was running out of room in my stomach so I skipped it.  

I did not want to spend any money on alcohol so I had lemonade instead.

 In between all the pigging out we went on Space Ship Earth, Test Track, Living with the Land, plus saw the France movie and China movie

Again, the weather was so perfect and made for great pictures.  

I see many more Disney days in our future.

Pregnancy and Infant Loss Awareness Day - My Story of (not) Loss

I have always considered myself to be one of the fortunate people who had three healthy pregnancies that resulted in three healthy and beautiful sons. I will never know what it is like to experience a miscarriage or a stillbirth. I will never know the horrific tragedy of losing an infant and I am so grateful for that. 

 What I did experience, though, was something called a "vanishing twin" and I am discovering that many people out there in social media world have experienced this too and consider it to be a pregnancy loss.  

Here is the thing though...I don't (in my case) and I never even really think about it. 

Am I a terrible person because I have never really considered that "twin" a baby?  Am I a horrible person because I don't  and never have grieved for it?  I don't, and never have, spent any degree of time wondering what kind of person it would have been or what it should/would be doing. 

  Soon after I found out, I was telling a friend about it and she said, "oh wow, you must be really upset."  I was surprised when she said that because I wasn't...at all.  It made me question myself..."Should I be upset? Am I supposed to be upset?"

In my defense:

I only found out about it because, after a couple weeks of slight complications, I had an ultrasound at about 8-9 weeks that showed the empty sac so I think the fact that I had no knowledge of it before I found out it no longer existed may have affected my reaction.


 I had not prepared my heart for twins and had not had time to be excited that I was expecting two babies . I was simply excited to be expecting a baby...and so I was beyond excited to hear that everything looked great with the one baby I was expecting.  

Add to that the fact that my doctor (physician who ordered the ultrasound) didn't even tell me this when he gave me the results of the ultrasound...I didn't find out until a whole 3 weeks later when I went to my first appointment with my OBGYN. He had the results of that ultrasound in my file and when I asked him what the complications were about if everything with the pregnancy was normal...he told me. 

He also told me that as many as 20% of pregnancies may begin this way and go undetected because they do not experience symptoms that would warrant the early ultrasound to verify the existence of an empty sac.

In the early 1990's ultrasounds just weren't done that early in pregnancy - if at all.   By 1999, when I had my third child, routine ultrasounds were performed at 6, 8, and 12 weeks...but not in 1990.  So, I suppose I can understand how a person who was told at 6 weeks that there were two sacs indicating twins and then found out at 8 weeks that one of the sacs was empty would consider it a loss.  It just didn't happen that way with me.  

There it is - my 'loss' story.  But, as I said, I don't ever think of it of it as a loss because the end result of that pregnancy was an unbelievably fantastic son.

Because I have a bit of a problem, I bought a full bag of shelled peanuts at the store on Sunday...for the squirrels.

I have spent the past three days tossing peanuts in the direction of every squirrel that meets my field of vision.

 Side Note:
 I would probably rank Monsters and Mayhem higher if I was a past attending, die hard HHN person.  The entire premise of the house is to recreate houses of the past 25 years.  To a die hard fan (like C.J.) this house is amazing. To me it's just a random collections of rooms that are cool to walk through but have no meaning to me.

Give me a break...we haven't exactly had a whole lot to cheer about for the past few years.  

Happy Fall Y'all

Yesterday I turned the page of my calendar to October and right now that calendar is the only thing reminding me that it is fall.

This year there are no colored leaves 





And there is no chill in the air...today it was 85*.

This hardly puts me in the mood to sip hot apple cider while burning pumpkin scented candles.  

But regardless of the fact that my air conditioning is still running 24 hours a day (thank goodness I don't have a utility bill), it is October and that means the season is autumn.  

So happy fall.
