Gone Today...Here Tomorrow

This is our backyard today:

Tomorrow:
..WINTER STORM WATCH REMAINS IN EFFECT FROM TUESDAY EVENING
THROUGH WEDNESDAY AFTERNOON...

* SOME LIGHT SNOW COULD DEVELOP OVER CENTRAL AND NORTH-CENTRAL
WISCONSIN TUESDAY DURING THE DAY...BUT THE SIGNIFICANT SNOW IS
EXPECTED TO FALL TUESDAY NIGHT AND WEDNESDAY. THE SNOW COULD BE
HEAVY AT TIMES...ESPECIALLY LATE TUESDAY NIGHT AND EARLY
WEDNESDAY MORNING.

* SNOWFALL TOTALS OF 4 TO 7 INCHES ARE EXPECTED SOUTH OF A
STURGEON BAY TO WISCONSIN RAPIDS LINE...WHILE TOTALS OF 8 TO 12
INCHES ARE EXPECTED NORTH OF THIS LINE BY WEDNESDAY EVENING.
SNOWFALL TOTALS ARE STILL SOMEWHAT UNCERTAIN ACROSS PORTIONS
OF CENTRAL AND NORTHEAST WISCONSIN DUE TO THE AMOUNT OF WARM
AIR WORKING INTO THE REGION. THE AMOUNT OF WARM AIR WILL
SIGNIFICANTLY IMPACT PRECIPITATION TYPES AND SNOWFALL TOTALS
IN THIS REGION.

* STRONG EAST WINDS TUESDAY NIGHT MAY CAUSE SOME BLOWING AND
DRIFTING OF THE SNOW...LEADING TO FURTHER TRAVEL DIFFICULTIES.
SLEET MIXING IN WITH THE SNOW TOWARDS WEDNESDAY MORNING WILL
LEAD TO A HEAVY WET SNOWFALL WHICH WILL BE DIFFICULT TO SHOVEL
OR PLOW.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A WINTER STORM WATCH MEANS THERE IS A POTENTIAL FOR SIGNIFICANT
SNOW ACCUMULATIONS. GUSTY WINDS WILL ALSO CAUSE BLOWING AND
DRIFTING OF THE SNOW. THE COMBINATION OF SNOW AND BLOWING AND
DRIFTING SNOW COULD SEVERELY IMPACT TRAVEL. BE SURE TO CLOSELY
MONITOR FORECASTS ON THIS DEVELOPING STORM SYSTEM.

Just a reminder to us that winter is not over!

Platteville Weekend

So, Zack and I escaped to Platteville for the weekend to visit Jon.

We were greeted by Jon who brought us up to his room full of trash. We immediately started cleaning until, when all was done, we had four bags of trash.
He lives alone since his roommate didn't come back for Spring semester...so he doesn't really bother cleaning all that much!

Here is room afterwards...relatively clean

Trash bags sitting by the door waiting to be taken out

This is the view outside:

Platteville got some snow the other night...we still don't have any here.

We spent Saturday afternoon at the motel visiting, doing Jon's laundry and watching a movie.  Jon and Ollie got re-acquainted.

 Jon and Zack got re-acquainted:

Seriously, Zack loves his brothers so much!  I love witnessing their relationships.

Later at night we headed to Dubuque to do some mall shopping and eat.  We were not prepared for the ridiculously long waits at the restaurants.  After three tries we finally settled on Red Robin with a 15 minute wait.

There was not much to do today once we checked out of the motel.  The boys stuffed themselves silly at breakfast so neither was hungry for lunch...so, after a short stay in Jon's room.

 we left for home...sob..sob.

Good thing Spring Break is soon and Jon will be home for a week!

Oh...and C.J. will be here on Friday.  YEAH!!!! Can't wait.

On a Lighter Note

Guess who got groomed this week.  I'm not fond of how he looks after being groomed (kind of poodlish) but if we don't groom him, his fur gets matted and he ends up being shaved.

Update

Tomorrow, Doug will begin radiation to his brain.  Apparently, this is the biggest area of concern right now and there is no time to wait.

The tumors found on the lungs and liver were found on the outside of these organs and not the inside.  I am not sure what that means to long-term survival or treatment.

Thanks for your continued prayers.

Urgent: Prayer Needed

I am asking for prayer for my brother-in-law, Doug.

Late in 2010 he was diagnosed with skin cancer. Although it had reached several lymph nodes and was quite invasive, the prognosis was pretty good and he had been doing quite well.

However, yesterday, a routine scan revealed several spots on his brain, his lungs, and his liver.  The scans were sent to Arizona for a final read but the doctors are certain the spots are cancerous.  And the scan was really sent off more to arrange a treatment plan for him than for a final read as the doctor's have said without treatment he wouldn't last more than three months.

One thing I have learned from reading so many caringbridge sites is that cancer in the brain is bad....cancer in the lungs is bad....but cancer in soft tissue (liver) is the worst and most difficult to eradicate.

But we serve an amazing God and cancer is no match for His power should he decide that that is his will.

So if you are reading, let's all storm the Heavens in prayer...not only for Doug to be cancer free again..but for his wife, young daughters, and parents.

I Took A Picture of My Clean Kitchen

because it won't be clean for long.

By tomorrow there will be dishes piling up next to the sink because no one in the family knows how to open the door to the dishwasher but me!

And there will be papers scattered around the table and counters until I decide to clean again!

So for tonight, I will enjoy the clean.

Make-up

Zack needed to wear make-up for the play this weekend.  Here he is getting a little foundation on:

He was okay with that.  It was the eye make-up he had a difficult time with.  The poor girl kept having to stop and give his eyes a chance to stop watering.

Interesting how he looks with eye make-up on though.

The Worst Day

On Saturday November 23, I woke up to the news that my dad had passed away in his early morning sleep and my whole world changed in that o...
