Wisconsin Trip - Day Two

The alarm went off at 8:45 this morning jarring us awake and then we hit the floor running.

No kidding...we were dressed, packed up, and ready to leave all within 15-20 minutes.

Travel today was pretty uneventful which is a good thing but Northern Indiana was not good for my blood pressure.  The speed limit is 70 mph for cars but only 65 mph for trucks.  So when the trucks went to pass each other, they slowed everyone down and created a huge back-up of cars!  I really think they need to make that part of I65 three lanes.

After seeing a sign that said 'major construction in Louisville'  I took the I7bypass.  It led us slightly out of the way but may have saved us time in the long run...who knows.

Chicago was easy and Milwaukee was surprisingly easy too. I was anticipating traffic because we were driving through around 5:30 but there wasn't any.

We arrived at around 6:45 and pulled off an amazing surprise.

Video's will be added soon.

Wisconsin Trip Day One

I'm not going to go into all the details of why we are making this trip up north...believe me when I say that it is imperative to make this trip right now or I would not be inserting myself into winter weather and cold temps!

So...it was a very early day getting up at 4:25.  We were out and on our way by 5:00.  I almost did not even make it out of Orlando.  I was on the corner of the street I live on and International Drive waiting to turn left (I had a red arrow).  As soon as the arrow turned green, I started accelerating and a car ran the red light and came within a few feet from hitting me.  I was seconds away from being t-boned by a red light runner going at least 40 mph!

Travel was pretty smooth with the exception of downtown Atlanta where a lane closure led to a 15 minute traffic tie-up.

We stopped for the night at a Super 8 in Cave City, Kentucky  just short of my goal of getting to Elizabethtown.

Tomorrow, hopefully, we can pull off a sweet, sweet surprise when my BFF Carey opens her door to find us standing there!

Fall Out Boy Fail

We made our way to Universal Studios tonight for Mardi Gras.

We sat in the same place for the parade and this time I did not have a guy with six feet arms next to me.  I had a teenage girl who had no concept of personal space and (I'm completely serious) would stick her hand right in front of my face to catch beads that were tossed my way!  Half way through, I traded places with Zack or someone may have gone home with one less arm attached to their body!

Fortunately, she left after the 1st round so when the floats came back around I was able to enjoy it more and Zack and I came home with 66 beads between the two of us.

The bad news...we were not even able to get close to seeing Fall Out Boy.  It wasn't a huge deal because, just like Mannheim Steamroller, I probably would have only listened to a couple songs and then left. But it would have been nice to hear them play a couple songs.  Not surprisingly, the concert area was at capacity by the time we drifted over that way.  Like I said, it wasn't a huge deal.

The concert I am really looking forward to is REO Speedwagon on March 27 (I think)...I'm showing my age!

I can't fight this feeling anymore!!!!

Little video of the beginning of the parade

We have some exciting days ahead of us.....

Be the Thunder

Last night C.J., Zack, and I drove to Tampa Bay to watch the Lightning Game.

We stopped for dinner on the way there at Applebee's

We had a great time and the Lightning escaped with a 2-1 win which made it even better.

The highlight of the evening was at what appeared would be a low point for the Lightning.  They had just been issued a penalty giving their opponent a full 4 minute Power Play in the final minutes of the 2nd period.  Up 1-0 at the time, a tie game at intermission seemed a certainty...until!!! A breakaway goal by a Lightning player resulted in a penalty and a penalty shot and instead of being tied 1-1, the Lightning were up 2-0.

I wish I had gotten a video of the penalty shot but it all happened too fast for me.  I don't know all the rules of hockey and didn't realize a penalty shot would be taking place.  I only got the resulting horn and replay. LOVE that horn...and how cool is that T shaped bar that conducts the lightning!

Here is someone who was on the ball and got the whole thing on video

I am thankful for safe and easy travels and a great evening with my boys.

That was such a fun year

BTW:
This bank in downtown Tampa always interests me...it looks like a house on top of a building to me.
